Home Remedies for Teething Babies

During the first six months of your baby, you will notice white, hard stuff trying to push through the gum line of your baby, these are his teeth. Your baby may experience pain so you may want to assist him and relieve his irritation while teething. Here are some Smart Parenting Tips that will remedy his teething problem.

1. Massage firmly but gently or press your baby’s gum with a clean finger or a soft cloth.
2. Give something cold to suck or chew on. If he has started to eat solid foods, a frozen banana or ice cube may be soothing. Some babies like sucking on a moist flannel that has been frozen for a few hours. You can also buy plastic teethers, make it cold and give your child to chew on.
3. Prevent facial rashes by washing away dribble with a warm, clean flannel. Apply protective ointment like petroleum jelly or lanolin. Some children are more susceptible to diaper rash when teething. Change dirty diapers regularly and wash baby’s skin well with warm water and soap after s bowel motion.
4. Rub teething gel on your baby’s gum if he is very upset. Teething gels are available over the counter at drugstores.
5. Occasionally, they may require analgesic like paracetamol to relieve pain. Use strictly as directed by your pediatrician.
